Mission
To reverse the high school dropout epidemic in your city by creating an engaging  after school career and technical training program that reflects the reality of the changing workplace, local culture and gives disenfranchised students new ways to develop creative ideas, explore career options, build transferable skills, and access multiple paths to success.

Objective
To help local youth become active authors and creators, not simply observers and consumers of music and digital media content. Whether students learning skills in the context of entertainment entrepreneurship, music business best practices, recording arts, music production, event planning, video production, etc., this program promotes collaborations so that students will be able to develop the lifeskills, workforce skills and critical thinking skills needed to make them college and career ready.

Goal
To provide students with opportunities for practical work experience and to provide exposure to talented local student musicians, bands singers, choirs, songwriters and producers.
• To assist participating students and artists in developing and perfecting the skills needed for   business development, music production, marketing, event planning, social networking, digital distribution and ecommerce development.

To introduce new talent and works of music into the rich musical heritage of the City of Huntsville

A Model For A

STUDENT RUN RECORD COMPANY

Program Snap Shot

The student-run label is first and foremost an after school project, and participation supports the student’s normal course of study. This after school program is designed to appeal to students that have been immersed in music and technology from an early age. This real world recording arts and entrepreneurship development program is a great opportunity for students to learn valuable 21st century skills so they can be competitive in the changing local job market.

The student run music label will be fully functioning and will be operated by students attending Lee High School. Participating students will expand their knowledge of entrepreneurship and the recording industry by signing, recording and marketing local artists through their own record label.

This after school program provides low-income children and teenagers in Huntsville’s NE section of town, (particularly those in Edmonton Heights and surrounding two of Alabama HBCU’s, Alabama A&M University and Drake State Technical College) with the tools to develop the critical communications and creative skills needed in today’s workplace.

Through this program students will be able to identify their personal skills and develop their creative talents while expanding their vision of what they are able to achieve, and as a result increase their personal capacity for leadership and personal success. This label will be the first of its kind and will provide students with the type of learning opportunities not available in Alabama High Schools.
